National Health Center Week – celebrating our health heroes

National Health Center Week, which takes place between Sunday, August 12 and Saturday, August 18, celebrates the work of health centers across America and the home of our country’s healthcare heroes.

At our E. Cook St. location in Springfield, we will be distributing free school supplies, backpacks, and books all week long.

Tuesday, August 14 marks our Employee Appreciation Day, which we will be celebrating with ice cream, sundae fixings, cookies, and brownies.

Thursday, August 16 is our Patient Appreciation Day. In the morning, we will have Heartland Mini Hoofs delivering its Just Say Whoa to Bullying program at our E. Cook St clinic. This program takes a unique approach to bullying prevention by helping children recognize and respect the differences in each other and understand that everyone has something valuable to offer. By instilling these core values and encouraging good character, Just Say Whoa to Bullying builds a foundation of understanding and promotes a positive social environment, which – in turn – fosters kindness and good citizenship in our youngsters.

We’ll also have a cookout for patients and community members on Wednesday afternoon.

Our patients play an invaluable role in our centers because our board is made up of 51% of those who live in our community. We’re excited to celebrate patients and our consumer board members that keep our centers accountable and abreast of community needs.

We look forward to marking National Health Center Week 2018 with you.
