2018 marks the fifth year of the Illinois State Dental Society Foundations’ Mission of Mercy, which takes place July 20 to 21 at the Bank of Springfield Center in downtown Springfield, IL.
Not only will Central Counties Health Centers’ have staff support the work that takes place at this year’s Mission of Mercy, but nearly all of our dental staff will be volunteering too.
Central Counties Health Centers’ staff are among other dental professionals in the state that have volunteered their time and skills to serve the uninsured, underinsured, and low-income population in great need of dental services.
Our dental staff, along with others from across Illinois, will be providing cleanings, fillings, extractions and limited partials.
Patients do not need to register but will be accepted on a first-come, first served basis clinic days.
In addition to the two-day event, on the 19th, volunteers will also screen up to 250 veterans, completing their registrations, medical triage, dental triage, and x-rays.
We are so proud to support this event and of our dental staff that is giving up their weekend to help those most in need.
Mission of Mercy is a great learning opportunity for dental students to volunteer as assistants and/or patient ambassadors.
If you are interested in volunteering, you must be 18 years or over, there are slots from 5.30am to noon and from 11.3am to 6 pm on the 20 and 21. In order for Mission of Mercy to be a success, the Illinois State Dental Society Foundation requires physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and hundreds of lay volunteers.
